Frequently asked questions

What days do you shoot? Currently mornings on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I have a young son, and I am home with him on afternoons and weekends.

Do you offer mini sessions? I offer mini sessions on set dates throughout the year, most times corresponding with a holiday (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and the winter holidays). I have not set the dates for 2022 yet, but will announce them via Instagram when I do.

Can I book a mini session with you as a new client? Mini sessions are limited to existing clients, as mini session days are FAST! They happen with multiple families, back to back with about 5 minutes between families. Meeting you for the first time on a mini session day leaves very little time to get to know the individual personalities that make your family unique and ensure the best product. Once we’ve completed at least one full session, clients are eligible for a mini!

Can I book a solo mini session outside of those dates?  Mini sessions are limited to the set group dates. In the event that I add another date to this list, I will announce it via Instagram! @melissafitzwest

Can I book a mini session for my newborn baby? I only shoot newborn sessions in a full time slot capacity only. Babies are eligible for mini sessions at 6 months of age and older.

How quickly will I receive my images?  You will receive your preview gallery within one week of your session. I do an ASAP 5 image turnaround for cards, birth announcements, family gifts, or just personal prints. These 5 images will be returned to you within 1 week of you sending me your selections.  The rest of your collection will come within 8-10 weeks of receiving your selections, though these timelines can run longer during peak months.  

Do you do extended family sessions?  My sessions are structured for your immediate family only and I am not currently offering extended family packages at this time.

What days of the week do you shoot? I currently shoot family sessions in the morning on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Do you offer smash cake sessions? We do not specialize in smash cake sessions, only lifestyle photography!

What is the best way to reach you? The contact form below is the best way! Due to the frequency of shooting schedule, I’m often not available by telephone. If you’d prefer to speak via telephone, email me below and we can set up a phone meeting.

Where will you travel for in home sessions? I travel for in home sessions anywhere inside the Beltway 8 loop.
